- In Rwanda, the situation is more and more confused after the assassination of the Prime Minister, shot dead by members of the presidential guard.
- All last night, fighting took place between the government forces and elements of the RPF.
- 10 Belgian soldiers were kidnapped and then killed and at least 22 men and women religious were murdered.
- For 48 hours, UNAMIR has been confronted with both ethnic and political clashes. With a totally decapitated government, the country seems to be plunging into civil war.
- The terror that reigns in the streets of Kigali between the two ethnic groups, Hutu and Tutsi, has already claimed a very large number of victims.
- The Quai d'Orsay indicates that all measures have just been taken for a possible evacuation. French troops, based in the Central African Republic, have been on high alert since yesterday [April 7].
