Abstract
- Violent fighting throughout the night in Kigali: the rebel forces which surrounded the city entered the capital of Rwanda a while ago.
- Yesterday [July 3], for the first time, there was a clash between the RPF and the French army. The rebels fired at a convoy that had just evacuated orphans and civilians in Butare in southwest Rwanda.
- When the city fell, the French organized the evacuation of 600 orphans. These are the men from the Special Operations Command. On the way back, a clash between them and the RPF forces. For the first time the French opened fire. There were no casualties in their ranks.
- At the rear, the legionaries arrived from Djibouti are settling on a key point: on the road to Butare, which allows to cross Rwanda from east to west and which therefore represents the axis of logical progression of the RPF. The legionaries have no illusions about the fact that they will find themselves in contact with the Rwandan Patriotic Front.
- The men of Operation Turquoise today touch on the contradiction that exists in the context of a mission that is both humanitarian and military. Since yesterday [July 3] we have been talking about the military and the risk is becoming clearer, which is the nightmare of the French, of finding themselves involved in the Rwandan conflict.
