Since the night of August 20 to 21, 1992, the extremists of the former single party, the MRND, and its satellite, the CDR party, have continued to sow violence, death and desolation among the population. The instigators of these bloody events would aim to sow a climate of terror and insecurity throughout the country and to torpedo the ongoing negotiations between the government of Prime Minister Nsengiyaremye and the RPF.
