KIGALI, Jan 17 (AFP) - More than 40 Patriotic Front rebels were killed in Rwanda this week when they launched simultaneous attacks at Muvumba and Kaniga in the northeast, army headquarters here reported.
Army losses were three soldiers killed and five wounded.
The fighting on Wednesday was followed that night by shelling of army positions at Butaro and in the volcano region of the northwest. The rebels were firing from Uganda, the military said.
