CAIRO, April 14 (Reuter) - Egypt, current chairman of the Organisation
of African Unity, said on Thursay it was temporarily closing its
embassy in the Rwandan capital Kigali because of the deteriorating
situation there.

Foreign Ministry sources said the Egyptian ambassador and his staff in
Kigali had been instructed to leave the city for the time being because
of the dangers they were facing.

On Wednesday Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said the Egyptian embassy in
Rwanda would remain open for as long as possible to monitor the
situation.

Rwandan army units and infiltrating rebels battled in and around Kigali
on Thursday for the second day running.

France and Belgium have closed their embassies in Kigali after bloody
tribal fighting broke out following the death last week of President
Juvenal Habyarimana.

The Rwandan cabinet and most foreign nationals have fled the central
African country, where tens of thousands of people have been killed
