NAIROBI, Oct 18 (AFP) - More than 100,000 villagers have fled their homes in Rwanda's northern border with Uganda due to regular attacks by Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) rebels, state-run radio Rwanda said in a broadcast monitored here on Friday.

The radio quoted Interior Minister Faustine Munyazesa as saying that three-quarters of the villagers are now living in camps far from the border and the rest with relatives elsewhere.

The radio also said famine had hit two million Rwandese living in the northern regions of Gikongoro, Butaro and Kibuye.

According to the radio, the situation in Rwanda could be aggravated be aggravated by 500,000 refugees expected to return home, but did not say when.
