KAMPALA, Aug 8 (AFP) - Uganda and Rwanda have agreed to hold regular talks aimed at maintaining security along their border following a cease-fire pact between the Rwandan government and the rebel Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), Ugandan foreign minister Paul Ssemogerere said Saturday.

Rwanda has repeatedly accused Uganda of aiding RPF rebels who invaded the tiny central African country from Uganda in October 1990 in a bid to overthrow the government of President Juvenal Habyarimana.

Uganda has denied involvement in the conflict.

Ssemogerere who was speaking at a news conference here also attended by visiting Rwandan Prime Minister Dismus Nsengiyaremye said "suspicions" between the two neighbouring countries were coming to an end and they were now working together to enhance peace along their common border.

A ceasefire agreed upon between the Rwandan government and RPF in Arusha, Tanzania took effect July 31. It is to be monitored by a team of 50 military observers from Senegal, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Egypt.

A second round of talks aimed at reaching a peace treaty between the two sides is scheduled to start in Arusha on Monday.
