By referring to the "Rwandan genocide" instead of the genocide against the Tutsi, this presentation is highly ambiguous. It ignores the pogroms perpetrated against the Tutsi from 1959 to 1964 and again in 1972. Furthermore, it remains silent on the French military's Operation Turquoise in 1994, which, under the guise of a humanitarian operation, allowed the perpetrators of the genocide against the Tutsi to escape to Zaire, taking between one and two million people with them. This refusal to arrest those responsible for the genocide, and the support France provided them to seek revenge, is at the root of the Congo Wars. This reality is concealed from the viewer, who is instead encouraged to condemn Rwanda.
