Abstract
The French mercenary Bob Denard would be sent by the Habyarimana family to try to reverse the military situation compromised by the capture of the Kanombe military camp by the RPF. The French government is informed. Among other recipients of this DGSE statement on May 30th, 1994, the private chief of staff Christian Quesnot, the advisor for African affairs Bruno Delaye and the head of the military mission Jean-Pierre Huchon at the Ministry of Cooperation.
Comment
Invited to come and stay in Paris, the Habyarimana family was unable to contact the mercenary Bob Denard on their own. This intervenes within the framework of the indirect actions to the aid of our allies provided for by the note from General Quesnot to François Mitterrand and the talks that General Huchon had with Colonel Rwabalinda. The call to Denard shows that there was an agreement to keep Rwanda in the French orbit between the Elysée and Jacques Foccart, therefore between François Mitterrand, Jacques Chirac (who will take Foccart back to his service in 1995) and Alain Juppé, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Edouard Balladur. Jacques Foccart says that Bruno Delaye called him and that he had good relations with Jean-Christophe Mitterrand, Delaye's predecessor.
