- "In Rwanda the war is over", at least that's what the leader of the Patriotic Front says. The RPF controls the whole country except for the security zone protected by the French from Operation Turquoise.
- The war may be over, but the announced humanitarian catastrophe is becoming more and more precise in Goma. There, the refugees number in the hundreds of thousands. Among them orphans. They have at least 60,000.
- According to a UN representative, these children were among the dead. Most of the victims were not killed by the shells but rather by the panic which followed the bombardments.
